O.k. You guys are the first to know. I just picked up an Ashford Traditional that I found on Craig’s List. I love Craig’s List. I’m so excited. Will post pictures soon. Then you probably won’t hear from me for a while ’cause I’ll be spinning spinning spinning. YEayyy!
I took a short time out from the faves (knitting, spinning, quilting) to make a softy doll for my niece Gabrielle’s first birthday. I remembered it was her birthday on the Sunday before, while having breakfast at our favorite Mexican food joint. The options were to try to find something at Wal-Mart that wouldn’t poison her, or make something myself. She had already graciously accepted a knitted hat as a newborn, so I thought I’d make her a scrap doll. What’s wrong with me? Why do I think I can just whip that out in half an hour? It took almost 8 hours from inception, drawing it out on painter’s paper, finding the perfect fabric, stitching, stuffing, etc. I was so sick of that stupid cat once I was done. But I do like how it turned out. Very folk-artsy. Especially because I had to hack embroider the face so ther would be no choking hazards.
I’ve been away from the blog for a while. However, since knitting season is in full-swing, I thought I’d get the blog fired back up.
I have saddening news, though, and it’s partially why I haven’t felt like blogging. Winston died over the summer. I’m still not sure why, but suspect an intestinal blockage of some sort. We were treating him, but to no avail. He was a sweet bunny boy who would climb up my chest and wiggle his nose in my face.
I’m left with Chloe. Chloe, Chloe, Chloe, or as we call her around here, Mean Bunny, or worse. Chloe throws temper tantrums if you invade her space. If you reach into her cage to give her food, she’ll head butt or bite and grab whatever you have in an attempt to throw it. Move her litterbox, she’ll over turn it. If held, she scratches and tries to get away.
She is very pretty though.
Be back soon with pics of projects.
